Tom Stocks

Senior Advisor

Tom is a senior advisor to Julius Capital and serves as an experienced resource with corporate clients and on engagements involving turnarounds.

Immediately prior to affiliating with Julius Capital, Tom served in a turnaround role as the 17th President of St. John’s Northwestern Academies (“St. John’s”), a 137-year old college preparatory school located in Delafield, Wisconsin.  St. John’s engaged Julius Capital in 2018 to assist with its turnaround.

Working together, Julius Capital assisted St. John’s in raising $23MM of total funding over approximately two years. This funding included $8MM from a sale-leaseback of the St. John’s campus along with additional funds from negotiating the release of endowment commitments, realizing estate gifts, securing PPP funding and running a highly successful challenge-grant campaign.  Julius Capital and ImmacuLaw assisted in restructuring the St. John’s Foundation from a support-organization to a free-standing foundation with broader reach and balance-sheet philanthropy capabilities.

Tom’s 45-year career in business began with finance/treasury positions at Chicago based Fortune 500 companies.  Later in his career, he held senior operating positions, lead director, and CEO positions at several middle market companies.  Tom’s experience also includes private equity investing, board level positions at portfolio companies, and turnaround consulting.

Tom is currently active as an investor in lower middle market companies and also serves on the Board of Lawrence Hall, a Chicago-based child welfare agency.

Tom attended Wabash College and holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.  Tom and his wife, Marie, reside in Indiana.
